The South Pointe Stallions will be playing at home against the Eastside Eagles at 7:30 a.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran in their prior games.
South Pointe can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 38-7 win over York. The win was just what South Pointe needed coming off of a 64-31 loss in their prior game.
Aidan Turner was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 159 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Marshall, who threw for 113 yards and two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was South Pointe's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for nine sacks. The heavy lifting was done by C.J. Dixon and Brysen Ginn who racked up 4.5 sacks between them.
Eastside fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They took down Wade Hampton 28-14 on Friday.
Peyton Schrader and Noah Hunnicutt were among the main playmakers for Eastside as the former threw for 257 yards and three touchdowns while completing 85% of his passes and the latter picked up 156 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Kalvin Banks and his 82 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Eastside's victory.
South Pointe is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Eastside, their win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: South Pointe has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 214.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Eastside struggles in that department as they've been averaging 191 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Everything came up roses for South Pointe against Eastside in their previous matchup back in November of 2017 as the squad secured a 48-0 victory. Will South Pointe repeat their success, or does Eastside have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
