If the Craig Panthers were feeling good off their 76-41 takedown of the Hydaburg Warriors last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Craig took a 69-54 bruising from the Chiefs on Friday. Craig has struggled against the Chiefs recently, as their contest on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Bryant Holloway and Josh Bennett certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Holloway scored 20 points, while Bennett scored 17 points. It was the first time this season that Bennett scored 15 or more points. Brody Bazinet was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Craig's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Metlakatla, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 10-3.
Craig will play host again and welcome the Chiefs, where tip off is scheduled for TBD on Saturday. Metlakatla is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road dating back to last season. As for they, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Craig on February 3rd.
