Basketball Game Preview: Lawrence Upper Lions vs. Lake Ridge Academy Royals

The Lawrence Upper Lions will face off against the Lake Ridge Academy Royals at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Lake Ridge Academy will be up against a hot Lawrence Upper squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Lawrence Upper put the hurt on Grand River Academy with a sharp 64-41 win on Thursday. With the Lions ahead 35-15 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Lawrence Upper's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jordan Jackson led the charge by putting up 20 points. That's the most points Jackson has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Dominic Bell, who posted 20 points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lake Ridge Academy). They strolled past Grand River Academy with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 74-57. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Lawrence Upper pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Lake Ridge Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-10.

Lawrence Upper came out on top in a nail-biter against Lake Ridge Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2024, sneaking past 55-52. Does Lawrence Upper have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lake Ridge Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
