The Richland Bombers will head out on the road to face off against the Eastmont Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Tuesday, Richland was fully in charge, breezing past Central Valley 47-14 at home. The victory was just what Richland needed coming off of a 49-27 defeat in their prior match.
Joshua Woodard got back to being his usual excellent self, as he threw for 354 yards and six touchdowns while completing 77.4% of his passes. Richland also got help from Rayce Reeves who showed off his sure hands for 156 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Eastmont faced Moses Lake in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Eastmont really took it to Moses Lake for the full four quarters, racking up a 35-8 win at home. The victory was just business as usual for Eastmont, who after nine games remain undefeated this season.
Eastmont's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Adrien Ruffins, who picked up 93 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Ruffins was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 61 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Gunnar Peterson, who gained 151 total yards.
Another reason for the win was Eastmont's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Conner Prazer and his two sacks.
Their wins bumped Richland to 6-4 and Eastmont to 9-0.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's contest: Richland has been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 322.9 passing yards per game. It's a different story for Eastmont, though, as they've been averaging only 110.2 per game. How will Eastmont fare against such a dominant passing game?
Richland was able to grind out a solid win over Eastmont in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, winning 31-22. Does Richland have another victory up their sleeve, or will Eastmont turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
