While it was all tied up 18-18 at halftime, the Golden Gate Titans were not quite the First Baptist Academy Lions's equal in the second half on Friday. Golden Gate fell 44-36 to First Baptist Academy. Golden Gate has not had much luck with First Baptist Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the loss, Golden Gate saw an underclassman step up: Eslynda Bouzi scored 20 points. Bouzi scored a full 55.6% of Golden Gate's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Arianna Grant, who scored 9 points.
First Baptist Academy can attribute much of their success to Laila Stewart, who scored 18 points along with 3 steals. Ella Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with 6 steals and 5 rebounds.
Golden Gate now has a losing record at 1-2. As for First Baptist Academy, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Golden Gate will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Naples at 8:00 a.m. on November 25th. As for First Baptist Academy, they will square off against North Port at 9:40 a.m. on Saturday.
