North is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Thursday. They will venture away from home to challenge the Tehachapi Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
North is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Arvin: they outscored them in every quarter. The Stars never let the Bears get on the board and left with a 34-0 victory on Thursday. The Stars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 22 points or more this season.
North's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Bradley Dockery, who rushed for 100 yards on only eight carries, and Gavin Schillizzi, who rushed for 102 yards and one TD on only seven carries. What's more, Dockery posted two passing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in August of 2024.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: North was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 338 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 156 rushing yards in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Tehachapi, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They breezed past East Bakersfield to the tune of 41-7 on Friday. Considering the Warriors' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
North better keep an eye on Colton Michael. He was instrumental in Tehachapi's win, rushing for 210 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries, while also throwing for 30 yards and one TD.
Tehachapi's defense made their presence known, laying out Maximus Hull four times. Leading the way was Jackson Robinson with two sacks. He also made four total tackles, which is notable because Tehachapi is 2-1 when he posts at least three total tackles, but 1-2 otherwise.
North is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.3 points over those games. As for Tehachapi, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
North was taken down by Tehachapi 48-7 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Stars were down 27-0.
