The New Dorp Central Cougars stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They breezed by Summit Academy on the road to the tune of 97-49. New Dorp's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Summit Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Mariyha Boston and Sariah Gammon. Boston scored eight points along with five rebounds and two steals, while Gammon scored 13 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Skyla Lawrence, who scored two points along with six rebounds.
The win was the sixth in a row for New Dorp, bringing their record for this year to 13-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.5 points per game. As for Summit Academy, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Dorp will take on Curtis at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Summit Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Bedford Academy at 5:00 p.m. Bedford Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while Summit Academy is ranked 103rd).
