Softball Recap: Ventura Extends Home Winning Streak to Four

Ventura has relied on a stalwart pitcher averaging 3.92 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Pacifica Tritons as they made off with a 20-10 win. Considering the Cougars have won six matches by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ventura got a massive performance out of Zayra Landeros, who scored three runs while going 5-for-5. Those five hits gave Landeros a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Makayla Halley, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Ventura hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in ten consecutive contests.

Ventura's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Pacifica, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Ventura didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 21-0 victory against Van Nuys on the 2nd. Pacifica has also already played their next contest (against Bishop Diego), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
