There's no place like home for the Carver Montgomery Wolverines, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They took down Stanhope Elmore 66-49 on Monday. Given Carver Montgomery's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while Stanhope Elmore is ranked 285th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Conor McPherson was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. He hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Zander Frazier, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds.
Carver Montgomery pushed their record up to 14-13 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.7 points per game. As for Stanhope Elmore, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-18 record this season.
Carver Montgomery didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-52 defeat vs. Lanier on the 7th. Stanhope Elmore does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
