The Jim Thorpe Olympians had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 55-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Minersville. Jim Thorpe lost against Minersville in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 61-48 score last time.
Minersville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dante Carr, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 10 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Shazier Bethea, who scored 16 points.
Jim Thorpe's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Minersville, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Jim Thorpe will be playing in front of their home fans against Panther Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Minersville, they will head out on the road to face off against North Schuylkill at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
