Last Tuesday, Toll Gate was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 49-44 to North Providence. Toll Gate has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, North Smithfield had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 39-25 win over Pilgrim.
Mya Silveira and Kate Zonin were among the main playmakers for North Smithfield as the former scored 12 points along with three steals and two blocks and the latter scored seven points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Labonte, who scored two points along with five steals.
Toll Gate has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season. As for North Smithfield, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season.
Toll Gate came up short against North Smithfield when the teams last played back in January, falling 43-35. Can Toll Gate avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
