Marian Catholic has gone 8-2 against Niles Notre Dame recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Spartans will head out to face off against the Dons at 10:00 a.m. Marian Catholic has given up an average of 7.7 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Marian Catholic took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They walked away with a 15-12 victory over Bishop McNamara. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Spartans considering their two-run performance the game before.

Jonathan Trotter was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Bronx Debergh also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Marian Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 7-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Niles Notre Dame didn't have quite enough to beat Carmel on Wednesday and fell 16-15. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (ten), the Dons still had to take the loss.

Dominic Holton made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Michael Keany was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Niles Notre Dame's defeat was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-17-1. As for Marian Catholic, they moved to 11-20 with that win, which also ended their six-game losing streak.

Everything went Marian Catholic's way against Niles Notre Dame in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Marian Catholic made off with a 19-13 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
