The Sharon Tigers will take on the Oil City Oilers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
With a playoff game on the line, Sharon rose to the challenge on Friday. They claimed a resounding 28-0 win over Fairview on the road. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Sharon had established a 21 point advantage.
Among those leading the charge was Mister Ham, who rushed for 85 yards on only 12 carries, and also threw for 152 yards and a touchdown while completing 72.7% of his passes.
Meanwhile, Oil City waltzed into Friday's match with two straight wins but they left with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat North East 51-14 on the road.
Ethen Knox was his usual excellent self, rushing for 353 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per carry. Knox is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played. Jonny Hargenrader and his 85 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Oil City's win.
Their wins bumped Sharon to 8-2 and Oil City to 7-3.
Friday's match might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Sharon has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 209.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Oil City struggles in that department as they've been even better at 330 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
