The Aquinas Monarchs were the 47-46 winner over the Archbishop Bergan Knights when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Aquinas fell 50-38 to Archbishop Bergan on Tuesday. Aquinas' defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Several Monarchs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Garett Novacek, who scored 12 points. Novacek's trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Andel, who scored nine points.
Logan Eggen was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds for Archbishop Bergan. Eggen hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Alec Wendt was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 17 rebounds.
Aquinas' loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Archbishop Bergan, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aquinas will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lincoln Christian on Saturday. As for Archbishop Bergan, they will head out on the road to challenge Concordia at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
