Okawville is 8-2 against Wesclin since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Okawville Rockets will head out on the road to face off against the Wesclin Warriors at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Okawville has five straight victories, Wesclin has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Okawville has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 26 points or more this season. They blew past Sparta 67-26 on the road. Given Okawville's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Sparta is ranked 558th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alayna Kraus continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with six steals. The match was her ninth in a row with at least ten points. Madisyn Wienstroer was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 58-25, which was the final score in Wesclin's tilt against Carlyle on Thursday.
Okawville pushed their record up to 8-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for Wesclin, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.
Everything came up roses for Okawville against Wesclin in their previous matchup back in February as the squad secured a 57-27 win. With Okawville ahead 29-8 at the half, the game was all but over already.
