The Centennial Golden Hawks will head out on the road to square off against the Frontier Titans at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Centennial's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Frontier's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
On Friday, Centennial came up short against Stockdale and fell 8-4. The Golden Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Leah Barboza and Alex Andersen did some serious damage despite the final result: Barboza went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Andersen went 1-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Frontier's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Highland on Friday. The Titans were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Scots. The Titans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.
Taylor Sloss spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Emma Parnell was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Baden Conley was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Frontier pushed their record up to 12-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Centennial, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-9.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Centennial hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. However, it's not like Frontier struggles in that department as they've averaged .324. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Centennial couldn't quite get it done against Frontier in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-1. Can the Golden Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
