The Riverbend Bears posted their biggest win since December 6, 2023 on Friday. Everything went their way against Brooke Point as Riverbend made off with a 69-43 victory. Given Riverbend's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while Brooke Point is ranked 358th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hannah Alexander continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Charlotte Mullinax was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five assists and two steals.
Brooke Point's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chloe Williams, who scored 13 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Antoinette Sanusi, who scored ten points.
Riverbend pushed their record up to 8-3 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.1 points per game. As for Brooke Point, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverbend will take on Massaponax at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Massaponax is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Brooke Point, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Stafford at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully North Stafford focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Thursday.
