The Williams Yellowjackets will head out on the road to face off against the Hamilton Braves at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Williams didn't have too much trouble with Trinity at home as they won 52-36.
Alejandro Hernandez was a one-man wrecking crew for Williams as he rushed for 248 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. Hernandez was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 50 yards. Ian Rosales was another key contributor, rushing for 65 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Hamilton had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They breezed by Mt. Shasta at home to the tune of 48-6. Considering Hamilton has won six games by more than 23 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Hamilton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Diego Sanchez, who threw for 217 yards and five touchdowns on only 19 passes. Bryant Odom and his 86 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Hamilton's win.
Their wins bumped Williams to 3-6 and Hamilton to 7-2.
Williams might still be hurting after the 21-0 loss they got from Hamilton when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Thankfully for Williams, Ricky Sanchez (who rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.2 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
