Village Christian made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,417 from 9,542. The improvement came about via a 28-24 victory over Verdugo Hills last week.
The Crusaders led Olympic in scoring this week after putting up 28 points on the Dons.
Whittier Christian's dynamic duo of Ryan Esslinger and Noah Evans proved tough for Salesian to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Esslinger threw for 216 yards and two touchdowns and Evans had 108 yards receiving. Cody Bronkar helped Whittier Christian's passing attack out by catching five balls for 58 yards.
Omar Younger was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 95 yards on 16 carries as Maranatha lost to the Mustangs. Teammate Baile McDavid added to the ground attack by rushing for 23 yards.
Whittier Christian's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Heralds feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Esslinger has thrown for 1115 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, while Bronkar has 41 catches for 402 yards. JP Marquez leads the league in rushing with 455 yards.
