The Colbert Leopards pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 59-58 to Bonham. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Colbert came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 55th in Oklahoma, while Bonham is ranked 273rd in Texas).
DJ Stewart was the offensive standout of the game as he scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Jagger Lindsey, who scored 6 points.
Colbert's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Bonham, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Colbert will head out on the road to face off against S & S Consolidated at 10:20 a.m. on Saturday. S & S Consolidated is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Bonham won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Bowie at 12:00 p.m. on December 2nd. Bowie will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
