Diamond is a perfect 10-0 against Lockwood since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Wildcats will venture away from home to face off against the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. Diamond is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Diamond came out on top against Strafford on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run sixth inning. The Wildcats walked away with a 10-5 win over the Indians. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.
Sara Roszell was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run.
In other batting news, Diamond let Lauren Turner and Talyn Daniels run wild. Turner went 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI, while Daniels went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenzie Crook, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI.
Diamond kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Strafford only managed five hits.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Lockwood challenged New Heights Christian Academy on Monday. The Tigers never let the Cougars get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Tigers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Not much got past Kallie Griffin, who gave up just a hit and racked up 18 Ks to keep New Heights Christian Academy off the board.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Asa Lasater, who earned one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
Diamond's record is now 18-4. As for Lockwood, their record now sits at 16-5.
Diamond skirted past Lockwood 2-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
