The Luther Prep Phoenix will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Aquinas Blugolds. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Luther Prep narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Westby 21-18.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Luther Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Micah Ziemer, who picked up 105 receiving yards and a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Ben Vasold, who threw for 178 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Aquinas stacked a seventh blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past New Glarus/Monticello 42-6 at home. The win was familiar territory for Aquinas who now have nine in a row.
Aquinas' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but David Malin led the charge by rushing for 88 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Logan Becker also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Luther Prep's win was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.8 points per game. As for Aquinas, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.
