With 23 teams at the same position as last week, not much has changed in the power rankings this week -- but there was still plenty of gameday excitement. Part of the action? A towering 122-point combined score for Southern Nash and Northern Nash.
Can't Touch This
Clayton got a 48 - 0 win over East Wake last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Trevaun Richardson. Richardson rushed for 298 yards and two touchdowns. That performance made Richardson one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of the hottest tickets last week involved the clash between Cardinal Gibbons (2nd in the power rankings) and Northern (11th). Cardinal Gibbons was able to grind out a solid victory over Northern, winning 26 - 14. Northern had come in flaunting an aggressive defense allowing an average of only 9.2 points per game, but that obviously didn't scare off Cardinal Gibbons.
No Stoppin 'Em
It was another game, another high-octane performance for Southern Nash last week (their 9th in a row). It had all the answers against Northern Nash, winning 72 - 50. One of the main ringleaders for Southern Nash was junior Quinton Cooley, who ran for 219 yards and also punched in four touchdowns. The combined 122-point effort made this the highest-scoring game in the power rankings for the week.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Heritage (15th in the power rankings) and South View (8th). With the two teams stumbling in off of losses, both Heritage and South View will be hungry for the win. South View has never lost back-to-back this season, but Heritage hopes to show it that there is a first time for everything.
