The Huntington Park Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Venice Gondoliers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Huntington Park is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
Last Thursday, Huntington Park got themselves on the board against South Gate, but South Gate never followed suit. They took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 40-0 victory over the Rams. Huntington Park pushed the score to 34-0 by the end of the third, a deficit South Gate had no chance of recovering from.
Huntington Park can attribute much of their success to Noah Mancillas, who rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Juan Plaza., who rushed for nine yards and a touchdown.
Huntington Park's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Victor Espinoza and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Venice didn't have too much trouble with Fairfax at home on Friday as they won 20-6.
Amir Smith was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 62 yards and a touchdown. Smith was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 67 yards. Kenyon Alexander made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Huntington Park's victory bumped their record up to 5-5. As for Venice, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-5.
