Waskom is 7-1 against West Rusk since November of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Waskom Wildcats will be playing at home against the West Rusk Raiders at 6:00 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Waskom had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Elysian Fields, posting a 47-18 victory at home. Waskom has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 27 points or more this season.
Meanwhile, West Rusk was able to grind out a solid win over Troup on Friday, taking the game 51-43. The victory was just what West Rusk needed coming off of a 90-35 defeat in their prior contest.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Rusk to victory, but perhaps none more so than Keke Murphy, who scored 11 points along with nine steals and seven rebounds. Murphy hasn't dropped below two steals for 20 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamyah Lacy, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and six steals.
Waskom's victory bumped their record up to 8-12. As for West Rusk, their win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-17.
Everything came up roses for Waskom against West Rusk in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 82-54 win. Does Waskom have another victory up their sleeve, or will West Rusk turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
