There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. There's a new number one at the head of the rankings as well as a new caboose.
Can't Touch This
Western got a 30 - 0 win over Cypress Bay last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Allen Crawford. Crawford ran for 206 yards and also punched in two touchdowns. In fact, our algorithms singled out Crawford as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
On paper, the match between St. Thomas Aquinas (1st in the power rankings) and Deerfield Beach (5th) looked as though it might be one of the more compelling ones, but things did not play out that way on the field. St. Thomas Aquinas had all the answers against Deerfield Beach, winning 38 - 6. St. Thomas Aquinas did have the odds in its favor, but the team did even better than the MaxPreps national rankings indicated.
No Stoppin 'Em
University has been an offensive powerhouse for six straight weeks after the team lit up the scoreboard again last week. Everything went its way against American Heritage as it secured a 50 - 14 win. One of the main ringleaders for University was senior Kenny Mcintosh, who earned two touchdowns and 180 yards rushing the ball. The combined 64 points was the most of any game featuring a power-ranked team.
