Highland Tech unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a  blow against the Lincoln Charter Eagles on Friday, falling  50-6. Sadly, the  loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it eight in a row.
 Despite the loss, Highland Tech still got an impressive performance from   Irvin Thompson, who picked up 118 receiving yards and one  TD.
 Lincoln Charter was led to victory by  Braydon Walden and  Jeremiah Benton.  Walden rushed for 118 yards and a pair of  scores on only six carries, while  Benton rushed for 44 yards and two  touchdowns.
 Highland Tech will get a bit of extra time to process the  defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Shelby at 7:30  p.m.  on September 5. The  game will  give the Rams their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Lincoln Charter, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next  matchup,  a  72-49  loss against West Lincoln on the 29th.
