The Lawrence Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They took a 54-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of West. Lawrence was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as West apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
West's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jalen Foy led the charge by scoring 17 points along with six assists. Foy continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnny Young, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Lawrence has fallen quite a ways from their 17-5 record last season and are now at 1-7. As for West, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Lawrence will be playing at home against Olathe South on Friday. West won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Topeka at 11:45 a.m. on January 20th. Topeka is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
