The American Heritage Stallions can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They blew past Somerset Academy - Canyons 78-54. With American Heritage ahead 44-23 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
American Heritage found their leader in underclassman Brendan Gerard, who scored 24 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Xander Gerard was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Somerset Academy - Canyons had strong showings from Louis Stoitchkov, who scored 13 points along with three steals, and Jaiden Clendenin, who scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Clendenin has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jason Echeona, who scored eight points.
American Heritage's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for Somerset Academy - Canyons, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. American Heritage won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Bulls at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th. West Boca Raton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 419th, while the Stallions are ranked 135th). As for Somerset Academy - Canyons, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Inlet Grove has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 184 points over their last three contests.
