The Providence Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Ballantyne Ridge Wolves at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Providence knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Ballantyne Ridge likes a good challenge.
Providence's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Rocky River 16-0. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Ravens: they've now won six in a row.
Mattingly Amisano made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Amisano was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-2. That hit was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Providence let Emelia Zeng and Averie Jones run wild. Zeng went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Jones went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave Jones a new career-high in hits. Another player making a difference was Annie Stienecker, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Providence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .750. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in eight consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Ballantyne Ridge came up short against Palisades on Tuesday and fell 10-6.
Savanna Brown was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Dhaitha Dasari, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Providence pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Ballantyne Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Providence hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .455. However, it's not like Ballantyne Ridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .342. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
