White Pine has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Lake Mead Academy Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully White Pine focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Saturday.
White Pine put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season. They blew past Founders Classical Academy 61-9 at home. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 31-5.
White Pine found their leader in underclassman Brenley Skadburg, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds. Camden Johnson was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Lake Mead Academy came tearing into Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 43-41 victory over Awaken Christian.
White Pine's victory bumped their record up to 11-12. As for Lake Mead Academy, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3.
Everything went White Pine's way against the Eagles in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the Bobcats made off with a 44-23 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for White Pine since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
