The Providence Athletic Club Panthers will head out to challenge the Horse Creek Academy Stallions at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Providence Athletic Club is coming into the contest hot, having won their last eight games.
On Friday, Providence Athletic Club was able to grind out a solid win over American Leadership Academy, taking the game 7-4.
Atalie Gauntt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kirsten Thomas, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Ava Lastinger also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, Horse Creek Academy got themselves on the board against Calhoun County on Tuesday, but Calhoun County never followed suit. They blew past the Saints 15-0. The Stallions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.
Adrien Beak made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Beak was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base.
In other batting news, Allie Stuart was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Madalyn Robatue, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Horse Creek Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. Providence Athletic Club's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-1.
Providence Athletic Club took their victory against Horse Creek Academy when the teams last played on March 4th by a conclusive 15-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Providence Athletic Club since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
