It was a good run, but the Emmett Huskies unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Columbia 48-43. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Emmett in their matchups with Columbia: they've now lost eight in a row.
Emmett's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ryllie Smith, who scored 20 points along with three steals, and Natalie Goslin who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. That was a full 34.9% of Emmett's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Emmett's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Columbia, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-10 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Emmett won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Bishop Kelly at 1:00 p.m. on January 20th. Bishop Kelly is on a eight-game streak of home wins, Emmett a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Columbia, they will head out on the road to square off against Caldwell at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
