After losing to the Cook County Vikings the last time they met, the McGregor Mercuries decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. McGregor came out on top against Cook County by a score of 61-49 on Friday.
Several Vikings players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Denali Blackwell, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Rohan Rude was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
McGregor's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Cook County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
McGregor will head out on the road to take on Moose Lake/Willow River at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Moose Lake/Willow River knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully McGregor likes a good challenge. As for Cook County, they will be playing at home against South Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
