The Coffee County Central Red Raiders will venture away from home to challenge the Upperman Bees at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.
On Tuesday, Coffee County Central came up short against Cookeville and fell 5-2.
Preston Steele was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Upperman's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Stone Memorial by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bees have suffered since May 22, 2025.
Jackson Green spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Upperman saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Shupe, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Coffee County Central's defeat dropped their record down to 17-11. As for Upperman, their loss dropped their record down to 13-11.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Coffee County Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Upperman struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Coffee County Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Upperman when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 7-6. Will the Red Raiders repeat their success, or do the Bees have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
