Baseball Game Preview: First State Military Academy Bulldogs vs. Seaford Bluejays

The First State Military Academy Bulldogs are taking a road trip to square off against the Seaford Bluejays at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. First State Military Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.

First State Military Academy barely beat Newark the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Yellowjackets with a sharp 13-6 win on Thursday.

Alex Bright was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of First State Military Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 0-4 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, First State Military Academy let Steven Bright and Jacob Porrini run wild. Bright went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Porrini went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs Porrini has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Belford, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Seaford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Indian River.

First State Military Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Seaford, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. First State Military Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Seaford struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

First State Military Academy couldn't quite finish off Seaford when the teams last played back in March of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
