The Luverne Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Central Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Luverne is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
Luverne suffered their biggest loss since December 19, 2023 on Tuesday. They were the victim of a rough 64-44 defeat at the hands of Calhoun.
Meanwhile, even though Autaugaville scored an imposing 57 points on Tuesday, Central still came out on top. Central walked away with a 66-57 victory over Autaugaville. The victory was just what Central needed coming off of a 75-54 loss in their prior contest.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Iyanis Wallace, who scored 27 points along with three steals. Wallace hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. Christian Lawrence was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds.
Luverne has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. As for Central, their victory bumped their record up to 3-13.
Everything came up roses for Luverne against Central when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 69-42 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Luverne since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
