The Lyman Greyhounds lost against the Seminole Seminoles back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Lyman took a serious blow against Seminole, falling 75-39. While losing is never fun, Lyman can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 417th, while Seminole is ranked 32nd).
Lyman's loss came despite strong showings from Max Mattingly and TOMMY MURRAY. Mattingly scored eight points along with eight rebounds, while MURRAY scored six points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points MURRAY has scored all season. Jamarius Joyner was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Lyman were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Lyman's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Seminole, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-2.
Lyman will be playing at home against Cornerstone Charter Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Cornerstone Charter Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday. Seminole won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Osceola at 7:30 p.m. on January 6th. Osceola knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Seminole likes a good challenge.
