Webster County hasn't had much luck against Gilmer County recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Highlanders will welcome the Titans at 5:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Webster County took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They blew past Wirt County 10-3. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Highlanders considering their one-run performance the matchup before.
Maddox Brown spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Webster County is 5-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 4-5 otherwise.

Webster County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wirt County only posted an OBP of .154.
Meanwhile, Gilmer County never let their opponents score on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Calhoun as they made off with a 10-0 win. Considering the Titans have won 14 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Seth Stewart looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
Gilmer County's victory bumped their record up to 19-3. As for Webster County, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Webster County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Gilmer County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
