The Central York Panthers will head out to face off against the Lampeter-Strasburg Pioneers at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Central York is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.6 runs per game this season.
While Central York's win against Hempfield wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Central York narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Hempfield 9-8. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.
The team relied heavily on Claire Bohannon, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Shaffer, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.
Bohannon wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Central York kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Lampeter-Strasburg put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against Penn Manor. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Natalie Hill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Paige Baxter was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. That stolen base was her first of the season.
Lampeter-Strasburg pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Central York, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Central York's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's match. Central York has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Lampeter-Strasburg, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Central York continue to outrun the ball? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
