The Rangeview Raiders have not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They skirted past Chaparral 51-48. The victory was all the more spectacular given Rangeview's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while Chaparral is ranked 12th).
Kenny Black-Knox continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Royce Edwards, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Despite the loss, Chaparral saw an underclassman step up: Christian Williams scored 22 points along with three steals. Gavin Carter was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven assists.
Rangeview's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Chaparral, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.
Rangeview will head out on the road to face off against Vista PEAK Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Vista PEAK Prep will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. Chaparral will take on Regis Jesuit at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Regis Jesuit focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Wednesday.
