After flying high against the Rifle Bears on Friday, the Basalt Longhorns came back down to earth. Basalt took a 70-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Moffat County on Saturday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Several Longhorns players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Wyatt Loomis, who scored 20 points along with nine assists and two steals. Another player making a difference was Calum Inglis, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
Moffat County can attribute much of their success to Hudson Jones, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaylan Kirby, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Basalt's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Moffat County, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Basalt will square off against Steamboat Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Moffat County, they will head out on the road to face off against Summit at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
