Huron has gone a perfect 6-0 against St. Paul recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Tigers will face off against the Flyers at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Huron had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 16-run drubbing they dealt Willard on Wednesday. The Tigers blew past the Crimson Flashes 18-2. The victory was nothing new for the Tigers as they're now sitting on five straight.
Meanwhile, St. Paul hadn't done well against Plymouth recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Flyers never let the Big Red get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Flyers, who have now won five matchups in a row.
Isabella Guerra was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ella Kalizewski, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ryleigh Mansfield-Bush, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
St. Paul was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .407 or higher in four consecutive contests.
St. Paul's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Huron, their record is now 12-6.
Everything went Huron's way against St. Paul in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Huron made off with a 12-4 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
