Two dominant backs in Da'Kari Releford Jr and Joe Pron are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans will welcome the Regis Jesuit Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Fountain-Fort Carson sitting on five straight wins and Regis Jesuit on three.
Fountain-Fort Carson lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Douglas County, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's contest. The Trojans claimed a resounding 56-9 victory over the Huskies. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by 28 points or more this season.
Fountain-Fort Carson found their leader in sophomore Releford Jr, who rushed for 273 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.4 yards per carry.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Fountain-Fort Carson proved: they limited Douglas County to a paltry 2.9 yards per carry. The Trojans' run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.73 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 12.33 on average over their last five games.
Meanwhile, Regis Jesuit humbled Chaparral with a 41-9 victory. The Raiders' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Regis Jesuit found their leader in sophomore Luke Rubley, who threw for 167 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 32 yards. Rubley's passing game has become a key predictor of the Raiders' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-3 otherwise. Logan Singer was in the mix too, providing Regis Jesuit with two scores.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Regis Jesuit, racking up 17 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Singer, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Fountain-Fort Carson's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Regis Jesuit, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Fountain-Fort Carson took a serious blow against Regis Jesuit when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 45-7. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Trojans were down 31-0.
