The Lake Weir Hurricanes and The Villages Charter Buffalo squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but sadly the Lake Weir Hurricanes had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a rough 66-34 loss at the hands of the Buffalo. While losing is never fun, Lake Weir can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 517th, while The Villages Charter is ranked 194th).
It was another big night for Evah Watterson, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and 2 assists for The Villages Charter. Watterson is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last five games she's played. Zion Mcrae was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine assists.
Lake Weir are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15. As for The Villages Charter, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-11.
Lake Weir does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for The Villages Charter, they will square off against Umatilla at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Villages Charter is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.2 points per game this season.
