Eastern is 0-5 against Northwest since April of 2024 but things could change on Friday. The Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Mohawks at 5:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Thursday, Eastern got the win against West Union by a conclusive 13-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Northwest, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Oak Hill with a sharp 11-2 victory on Wednesday. Considering the Mohawks have won eight games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Chase Kingrey made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, Levi Shepherd and Aiden Armbrister did most of the damage at the plate: Shepherd went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and one stolen base, while Armbrister went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Armbrister a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Peyton Wolfe, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Northwest kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive contests.
Eastern's record now sits at 3-7. As for Northwest, their record is now 9-3.
Eastern suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Northwest when the teams last played last Monday. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
