The Iola Mustangs will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Marmaton Valley Wildcats at 8:00 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Iola posted their biggest win yet this season on Tuesday. They really took it to St. Paul for the full four quarters, racking up a 68-31 win at home. The win was just what Iola needed coming off of a 73-46 loss in their prior game.
Landon Weide was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Mac Leonard, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Marmaton Valley didn't have too much trouble with Cherryvale on the road on Tuesday as they won 52-38.
Iola's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Marmaton Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.
Everything came up roses for Iola against Marmaton Valley in their previous meeting back in January of 2021 as the team secured a 85-15 win. With Iola ahead 46-4 at the half, the match was all but over already.
