After a string of eight wins, the Ridge Red Devil's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 63-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Phillipsburg. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Phillipsburg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Matthew Scerbo Jr. led the charge by scoring 23 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Scerbo Jr. hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Ameer Herran was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Ridge's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-2. As for Phillipsburg, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ridge will face off against Bridgewater-Raritan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bridgewater-Raritan is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak. Phillipsburg will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Hunterdon Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th.
