Columbia City is a perfect 7-0 against Warsaw since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. Columbia City is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Columbia City's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They came out on top against Fort Wayne Snider by a score of 3-0. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won seven in a row.
The result came thanks to Emma Hiss's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Mylie Ward was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kendyl Sattison, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Warsaw's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (14-3), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. The game marked their lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Raegan Robinson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Nibert, who earned one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.
Warsaw's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Columbia City, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.
Warsaw's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Columbia City has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Warsaw, though, as they've been averaging only 3 strikeouts. Will Columbia City keep running through batters, or will the Tigers buck the trend?
Columbia City was able to grind out a solid victory over Warsaw when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 6-3. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
