Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Arlington

Arlington had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Southwind Jaguars a 15-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-0 back in March.

Brooklyn Knight was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Arlington got a big performance out of Morgan Cooper, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs Cooper has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Evans, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.

Arlington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Arlington's record is now 12-10-2. As for Southwind, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Looking ahead, Arlington will head out to take on Tipton-Rosemark Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Rebels will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Southwind, they will be playing at home against Manassas at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
